reader era is back???

i picked this book up after hearing about it a couple times (hi mona) in the days leading up to finding it at the thrift store. it was fate, i thought. ironic that this is a reoccurring theme in the book itself.

i don’t usually read books this fast, but i just couldn’t let go of it. i needed a story like this so bad: something to make me giggle but also make me want to die (positive and negative connotation).
i sobbed through the last 20 pages and a few other times before that. i highlighted every line that made me feel something in a faint purple. maybe i’ll never reread it but the pages just had to know.

i wanna attach a transcribed journal entry from the day i started reading. i was 50ish pages in and already ranting to myself about fate.

“11ish pm. 6 jan.
I think one day I could believe in fate. but I hope I don’t. I hope I meet people who make me skeptic and fall in love so deeply that I really really almost believe it. I hope I love so much I know it’s not fate, it’s just love. I feel love. I feel so much and I will feel so much more but that’s in my hands and in my heart, not the universe’s.”

I really liked this book! It was a good and intriguing story and it didn't end like I expected, which was a good thing. The only thing I liked less (and at the same time did like) was the little stories in between. I really liked the idea, and it was fun to have a little information on the background characters, but there were a little too many of the stories and they followed each other too closely which distracted from the actual story. Would definitely recommend this book though!

oh my gosh.
oh.
my.
i have so many feelings, but i don't just LOVE this book, i'm not just OBSESSED with this book. i ADORE this book, everything about it. WOW. some of the [many] things i loved:
- the lack of the 'stoic, white, mysterious, muscled white teenage boy'
- NATASHA
- IRENE
- all of the little narratives about the background people that had a huge role in the story
- the coincidences
- the multiverse theory
- the AUTHOR
- the FREAKING ENDING
