The Sun is Also a Star is such a heart-wrenching, thought-provoking story that is so spectacular its hard to believe it's contents take place over the course of a single day. The main characters, while a little cheesily obnoxious in their personalities at the start, grow to learn from one another as their backstories and perspectives deepen. The storyline is particularly relatable to me as an immigrant living in America and to have experienced such impactful love through the ties I've made here, with the constant underlying fear that I will have to leave again one day. The morals along following your dreams and learning to love, whilst also recognising that life can take you anywhere and you can't rely on one single aspect, person, or place to determine your future, certainly hit home and make for such interesting reading.

This is cute, I guess, but I really don’t love the books where they fall head over heels in a singular day. It just feels very unrealistic and slightly disconcerting how quickly they fall in love. I know it’s the whole juxtaposition of a girl who doesn’t think she can love, falling in love, but still it’s just like ..what?
It’s also just so unbelievable that it’s not even enjoyable. It just feels like it’s trying so hard to be connected in the plot that it’s trying too hard and it is just not enjoyable. It’s just doing too much and not enough at the same time

I loved the way this book was structured - it was an interesting concept having chapters to gain an insight into the lives of somewhat random characters or a brief history on some events. However I found the actual love story a bit weak and cringey. It’s a good if you are in the mood for a quick, lighthearted love story.
Maybe there is such thing as “love at first sight”…
