- The characters were all so well written and thought out.
- I liked the story overall and whenever we were with Baxter and Candle
- The layout of the book was fun and different and I liked the illustrations in the physical copy of the book.
- Interesting question to answer with Bella’s story:
- It was humorous
- Bella’s big ‘ole Fuck You to societal norms
What I didn’t like
- It was a little too detailed in a sexual way for my taste
- It’s a DENSE book. I had trouble getting into it fully.
- It was funny and written in a fun way, but it was a little too twisted for me to enjoy fully
- The pages on pages of political theory in Bell’s letter…dear gawd
- Some of the content was rough
Graphic: Animal death and Sexual content
Moderate: Violence and Blood

Overall, the book was fairly similar to the movie. I did not really like that the book was mostly from McCandless's perspective. Bella is the main characters, and it should be formatted that way in order to showcase that. She really is just such an awesome character.
I also liked the illustrations a lot. They were just kind of fun and quirky.
One thing that I did not like about this book was the part at the end where there is a letter from Bella, where
But overall I loved this book!
Read borrowed copy from Hannah.

However, I was not crazy about the ending- I thought i was going to hate it (but am very glad for the last page).
Usually I am of the strong opnion that "the book is better than the adaption" but actually the film adds so much to this narrative it's made me enjoy it even more. The costuming for example added so much to Bella's character and overall the vibe of the film is a perfect take on the novel.
Moderate: Child death, Domestic abuse, and Violence
