I received a copy of this book in exchange for a review.

This novel is the story of women who must come together, after an old falling out, in order to retrieve a diabetic dog for a third, very sick friend. They must drive this dog across the country, while one is hardly able to drive and the other can't look at a needle without passing out. They must learn how to be together and how to work together to deliver.

I really enjoyed this book. It showed just how complicated friendships can be in adulthood but also how easy it can be to come together in crisis to help a loved one, even when you don't necessarily feel loved. I loved all of the characters, even the ones we don't expect to meet, and they all seem to come together to be one big, strong team.

The good: The story was cute and heartwarming, Sam's voice rings through very nicely and I loved seeing her journey. I also surprisingly adored Summer.

The meh: I wasn't a fan of the central conflict. I get it but I also don't because I'm way too straightforward to let a misunderstanding or any issue with a friend go unmentioned for 20 years. I also felt like the characters 'coded' way younger than they were... it felt like they were in their 20s, not 40s.

The bad: The romantic subplot... the book didn't need it and tbh it felt kinda cheap because so much time is spent (rightly so) on Holy and Sam's friendship.

Overall: A fun read! A good way to pass the time... I did enjoy it after all I read it in less than 12 hours!
