This is not just a book ‘about’ the dinosaurs, it is simply the great Tribute to the legends which ruled this earth millions of years before. The author, Steve Brusatte described every minute details about the Dinosaurs including the Sauropods and the mighty T-Rex. Compared with Dinosaurs, humans are just very less experienced on this earth. Dinosaurs went extinct about 65 million years ago (at the end of the Cretaceous Period), after living on Earth for about 165 million years. While comparing with this Dinosaur dominion, humans just started living on the Earth, our ancestors made their first appearance on this earth around just 0.2 million years ago. It is a wonder to know the fact that, dinosaurs not properly went extinct, instead they are living among us in the form of Birds !!!
"Dinosaurs may be extinct from the face of the planet, but they are alive and well in our imaginations" !!!

The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs and The Rise and Reign of the Mammals by Steve Brusatte are two books on Paleontology. These books demonstrate the value of good science writers by counterexample. In between interesting anecdotes from the field, biographical sketches, and fascinating accounts of evolution in action, the author falls into the trap of academic writing with long lists of acknowledgments, obscure technical terminology, and Latin names. If you can skip the boring part, the books are great.

I've never been a "dinosaur person" but certainly read my share of dino books to my sons when they were little. This book was a very accessible look at new research into dinosaurs and had really good explanations of things.

I am a big dinosaur fan. After re-reading my all time favourite book, Jurassic Park, I wanted to read some non-fiction about the amazing creatures. This book did not let me down.

It is written in a highly accessible way and I was gripped by every word. I will definitely be reading more from Brusatte and will be branching out more into non-fiction going forward.
