1/5✨ (maybe would be a star higher if ‘defensive coordinator was used instead of ‘defense coordinator’)
super disappointing to admit (because this is my comfort series + one of my fav series of all time), that i really did not enjoy this story :(. the nash from “until friday night” was absolutely not the nash we encounter in “losing the field”. i did not enjoy tallulah at first. i honestly thought that she was incredibly rude and stuck up, and i hated that her entire personality revolved around losing weight over the summer. i will give a small trigger for a potential ed as well because a few paragraphs almost hinted at this throughout the story. nash was even worse. ultimately in the beginning i felt horrendous for him + his situation, but he is SO insufferable! he treats people like trash, uses girls, and his commentary on liking tallulah because she had “never dated anyone and therefore he didn’t need to test her for STD’s” was insane to me, especially when he’s been with many girls before her :(. ALSO- the contrived drama is unbearable. maggie and west, gunner and willa, and riley and brady all had believable emotional trauma. we’re made to believe that tallulah and nash both lose significant weight and injure themselves traumatically within the 12 week summer break respectively, which would be fine if I knew for a fact that nash was not walking 12 weeks after mcl, acl, and reconstructive ankle surgeries. all of that aside, i abhorred haegan and truly did not feel an ounce of emotion towards his plot line. another gripe that i had was the student/teacher relationship. WHY? the first three books in this series are some of my all-time favorites. this book didnt even remotely come close to emitting the same vibe. i wanted to enjoy this so badly, but I truly didn’t. + the nash i originally adored was definitely not the nash in this story.
