This was a cute story at times but damn, I really wanted the mom to give her awful boyfriend a talking to. Why would you sit around and let someone be such a dick to your kid after their life has already been disrupted? It was hard to read about an adult being emotionally abusive to a kid and then just have excuses made for his behavior. Gross.
