I needed to know if the unicorns matched the illustrations. Well, I was not let down because they really lived up to the hype. There are a few parts I found hilarious, but I don't want to include any spoilers. I think children will get a kick out of it come Christmastime. I should mention I am easily amused.

This is a slight, but funny Christmas story that would be a good choice for unicorn-obsessed kids this Christmas. When the reindeer come down with chicken pox, the North Pole Unicorn Troop is called into duty. They're the only other magical beings who might be able to pull the sleigh. With unicorns being "a little extra" all the way, they rise to the challenge. Good for a giggle, would hand only to kids who are big fans of unicorns (there are a lot of those kids around, tho!).

Super funny and ridiculous story of Unicorns saving Christmas. Best for one-on-one read aloud.

Children's picture book.  The North Pole Unicorn Troop is getting ready to celebrate Christmas when they get a loud knock on the door-- from Santa!  The reindeer have the chicken pox and Santa is trying to find a suitable crew to sub for them.  After the unicorns recover from the shock, they get so excited that they get the hiccups. Can a group of hiccupy unicorns save Christmas? The last two pages seem to imply yes, but no clear result is determined.

I was not a fan of this book. It tries too hard to be cool and trendy, and just manages to come off as kind of goofy.  Yes, unicorns are in right now. Yes the saying "a little extra" is in right now. But neither will likely have much staying power.  And as mentioned earlier, there's not even a clear determination if they were able to perform the job!
