I wanted to feel more touched by this story than I was. I felt at an arms length of the main character and I think for such a short and intimate space, readers should've been allowed to glimpse in a little deeper. Even so I appreciate it for what it is and I learned quite a bit actually.

"This is her first and last male protagonist" - chills. The development of August as a character is assuring. I like how (some) woman writers (sometimes) portray the male protagonist through this intimate perspective of motherly gaze, Woolf does it for me. Wolf, in this piece, leaves August's eccentricity to the reader and delves on the memories, usually abandoned by our age; was awe stricken towards its culmination.
