i didn’t know much about Britney Spears before the book, never really listened to her music etc. But now i have so much sympathy for her and what she’s been through.

Reading the experiences that Britney Spears went through left me with so much anger, sadness, and frustration for her. It is disgusting how the institutions we have in place, that are supposed to help and keep us safe, are constantly and consistently failing us. There are many heartless people in this world who should die, but death is a kind mercy they do not deserve. 

There are many complaints on the writing in this memoir, which is just focusing on the wrong thing imo, but the narrative tone of voice just sounded very young to me. I found this to be very fitting given the trauma she experienced, specifically in the sense of how trauma effects you neurologically, and it helps you understand just how young she was going through all this.

This poor woman. If you are in any way a Britney Spears fan, and even if you're not, this is important to read. She is literally treated like the protagonist of THE YELLOW WALLPAPER. If we lock her up, we can do whatever we want. Heartbreaking.

I am still thinking about this book weeks after reading it. I admire her so much for taking back control and telling her story. My biggest takeaway from this book and Prince Harry’s is having so much more empathy for celebrities and the scrutiny they live under. There’s so much to be said about ethics, mental health, misogyny, and trauma in these pages, and I think it would make for interesting book club discussion.

An incredibly sad story and I could feel her need to have her story heard for the first time ever. There were so many injustices done to this woman and I'm so sad that as a young teen I was one of those that felt "too embarrassed" to like Britney Spears. I'm still appalled that this can be done to anyone at all but even more to someone as successful and famous as Britney. 

As for the writing, I'm not too familiar with the memoir genre so I can't necessarily compare this to other books of the same genre but the writing does feel fragmented and a bit too basic, especially knowing a ghostwriter was used for this. Her story definitely deserved a bit more attention paid to the writing.

Excellent audiobook though, with Michelle Williams' narration shining through all the funny and emotional bits.
