Loved everything about this book, lots of layers on the building trust between Shannon and Johnny. Only thing mildly cringing is the fact they state how small Shannon is in like every chapter. Besides that this book is incredible, I love the storyline and i think its written perfectly for the fact that its 2 teenagers falling in love.

Let me start by saying that I do not support this author, I’ve heard she is a zi0n1st so I bought the book second hand and I recommend you do too.

I’ll give an honest review though with no bias (may contain spoilers).

This book is 800 pages, yet I read it in two days because I have to admit - it is pretty addictive. There’s no spice but there is a lot of vulgar talk (and I mean a lot, so be warned).

I did really enjoy the beginning of this book, which is why I read it so fast, because it felt relatively realistic and  quite cute.

However the closer I got to the end, the more whatpadd-coded (derogatory) it became. There were themes that were continually repeated through this book. For example, Shannon “so small uwu🥺🥺🥺” and johnny “so tall and strong🥺🥺”. Don’t even get me started on the amount of times Shannon walked into a wall of hard muscle 🤦‍♀️😭. In what world is every teenager boy at school, a walking Arnold Schwarzenegger??

I did love the fact that this book was set in Ireland though, but even though it was entertaining to read, I didn’t love a lot more. One thing that I did quite like was how protective Johnny was, although it got a bit unrealistic and cringe at times.

Also, Chloe Walsh’s writing was nothing special, in terms of language technique and stuff. It was easy to read and entreating, but not special.

Overall, this book was okay and fun to read but could have been better.

her in any way shape or form
im utterly amazed by it and i would totally recommend it if you can deal with hard subjects

This one surprised me. I generally don't so much as finish sports romances, let alone enjoy them. I also demand a full and thorough plot which was practically absent from this book. Shocking, given the ~800 pages, which definitely could've been reduced as conversations seemed to be repeated often, but I still devoured this book and had a great time doing so.

I loved the depth of the characters, and Gibsie and Johnny's friendship was a highlight for me. There were a couple of questionable comments made by characters, and everyone seemed to act first, talk later, but given the characters ages I think it checks out.

What I'd like to see in book 2:
more character development from Shannon would be nice; she was meek the whole book. I'd also like to see Johnny actually listen to her for once.
Looking forward to picking up the next book regardless!

It's worth checking the trigger warnings if you're okay not going in completely blind, there's some pretty dark themes throughout.

This book had me so invested the whole time I forgot I was reading. The way the story goes. The ending absolutely wrecked me. Immediately going to start keeping 13 because I need to know.
