This is the fourth book I’ve read from Karin Slaughter and she still manages to amaze me. The writing, characters, and plot always seem to suck me in. Like I’ve done before  with her other books, I teared up at certain parts. Finding out Laura’s past was rough. 

Are Slaughter’s books kinda messed up? Yes, but I keep eating it up. And I’ll continue to do so.

Also fuck Nick and Paula.

it started off strong then just got meh. the chapters were so long and just some of it was so predictable and drawn out like let me have some of the guesswork here.

The first few chapters grips you with questions about what actually happened— is she an assassin? A veteran soldier? A super sports mom? 

Once you read past the first few chapters (which are quite slow paced) the tempo starts to pick up and it’s just one revelation after another.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this book. Like I was wondering why that happened. But then the flashbacks happened and I was bored and didn’t care. I felt we didn’t need all that. Also it was very plot twisty which was a bummer. Also the main character was honestly annoying and stupid. This is the least graphic of her books so if you don’t like really disturbing things this might be the now to pick up from her.
