I have been reading a lot of Karin slaughter lately- I love her characters, her stories, her setting. But these characters were downright annoying. I couldn’t wait for the book to be over. That being said, I still enjoyed the plot and I think she did a good job of portraying a woman in an abusive relationship / with a conman and a woman with a more realistic reaction to something shocking. I just happened to hate these women, which made this a less than enjoyable experience overall.

The plot of this book is interesting and I want to like it, but every character in this book is a walking nightmare for a variety of reasons. I just could not get over it.

I felt bored until 60% through.
This narrator pronounces every 'h' in a word. wHat, wHite etc. Mildly annoying.
If that was a style choice due to the MCs middle name missing the H, then I get it.... but still.

Why have the characters make any choices when you can just write “And she found herself unable to resist _______” and move the plot along that way?

Another great thriller from Karin Slaughter. This is a great story about the relationship of a mother and daughter how a daughter makes it possible to do things you didn't realize you could do.

This was a great book with multiple stories tied in to one. I enjoyed Karin's writing style and look forward to reading the sequel, Girl, Forgotten.
