To me, every Maisie Dobbs book is like visiting with an old friend. I always forget how much I love coming back into her world.

This book gives a little more history from Maisie's childhood. And leaves me wondering if Billy's life will ever get better.

Too much relationship drama, not enough mystery solving

Can't decide between 3 1/2 and 4 stars. Other reviewers are complaining about Maisie being on her high horse here, but I loved Maisie's self-realization in this book. She has been a little controlling of others (tho I believe her intentions are good), but she had several people who care about her talk to her frankly about that here and she took it to heart. Interesting historical info about the upcoming WW II also.

Another good episode in the saga of maisie. The books are turning with less focus on the cases and more focus on the characters.
