This is my second read of 2022 and it's a great way to start off the year! 💕
On a more serious note, this was a fantastic reading experience. In a way, it made me imagine how it must feel losing my current partner and it fucking hurts. It hurts so much it made me feel... I don't know, more at peace with the idea of it? It gave me closure, you could say :')
If death (or any of the trigger warnings in it) as a theme doesn't trigger you, then yes, I do recommend it a lot!! 🌈😤👌

Ash and Poppy meet each other on a school excursions and fall in love, before Ash's untimely death after which she becomes a grim reaper and aids in guiding souls to the afterlife whilst mourning the loss of her life.
I found this book thought provoking and beautifully written, with multiple emotional moments.
Ash and Poppy's relationship is one that moves quickly and steadily throughout the first part of the book. You can truly understand and feel the love Ash has for Poppy and her hesitation at every inch of it.
While I understand that Ash and Poppy's relationship is the centre of the story, I wish we had more interactions with other characters. Ash's best friend is basically tossed aside early on, and her families (real and found) don't get nearly enough character or relationship development as they need. These characters are still beautiful and individual, but it feels like the story was definitely lacking when it came to them. I would definitely have appreciated more of the "found family".
Overall, I enjoyed this book, even with the multiple tears I cried through my time reading it. I found it so incredibly wonderful.
Minor: Animal death, Child death, Death, Homophobia, Suicidal thoughts, Suicide, Car accident, and Lesbophobia
