I say it with each new release: Sally Hepworth has created her own genre. Family dynamics, twisty mysteries, and infused with bits of humor (have you seen her instagram? She’s so funny!). I already can’t wait to see what family dynamic she’ll explore with her next book!

The Younger Wife centers on The Husband, Stephen, The Former Wife, Pamela, The Daughters, Tully and Rachel, and, of course, the new wife, “The Younger Wife,” Heather.

Pamela has dementia and is in a nursing home. She attends a wedding in the shocking opening scene. Someone gets hurt. By whom and why?

The daughters and Heather narrate the rather ambiguous, entertaining, and tense story that kept me guessing. It’s a clever, juicy page-turner, and I loved it! I’m ready to line up for The Soulmate!

I didn’t love this. I didn’t feel there was much suspense, and I wasn’t that invested in the story line.

3/3.5 stars. So much gaslighting in this story.
That being said I like authentic characters and these felt very real to me.
More family drama than psychological thriller, but I enjoyed it.

In just about 350 pages, Sally Hepworth tackles subjects such as sexual and physical abuse, severe anxiety, kleptomania, and gaslighting. I felt that the women in this book were written as utterly clueless and helpless, and it was really hard to continue to suspend reality in order to believe the plot. I enjoyed her previous book, The Good Sister, much more.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Net galley for providing a free audio ARC of this title for my honest review.

This is the 3rd book by this author that I've read, and I think I"m done with the author. I read and really enjoyed The Mother In Law, but the last two have been misses for me. This title got a lot of high reviews so I thought I'd try again, but wow, what a miss for me!
The audio narration is a bit confused for me, with 3-4 different narrators. The story line does follow different characters, and usually I enjoy this option, but it just didn't work for me this time.
But my biggest complaint about the book is the characters - I hated every single one. Every one. This wasn't the engaging domestic thriller I expected from the early reviews, it was a mess. And very uncomfortable.

A really great audiobook. And my sister is right, the Caroline Lee of it all is wonderful.
