Wow. This is such a feel good, sweet, enjoyable little story. I'm already head over heels with the cast of characters and so utterly invested in their get togethers'. I wish I was there with them. It all seems so fun!

'Skip and Loafer' by Misaki Takamatsu is an endearing story about a girl from a distant prefecture moving to Tokyo to start high school. Mitsumi has high hopes for her future and going to school in Tokyo will be the start of making these dreams come true. But her aunt is the only person she knows in the city and starting school in a city far different than her rural town brings culture shock and the hardships of making new friends. But Mitsumi puts her best foot forward to make her time in high school a good one.
This is such a pure hearted manga. Mitsumi is an easy character to root for as she approaches high school from a genuine, caring place. Her struggles are relatable as she tries to make friends and find her way in a city that is very different from where she grew up. I cannot wait to read more of this series. It's perfect when you need something light and hopeful.

Haven't gotten into the meat of the story since it's mostly been introduction of characters. It was a lovely start! It was very easy to love these characters. They're relatable. They're clumsy even a little bit emotional. I'm just in love with how Misaki Takamatsu depicts teenagers and youth. These complicated social situations that they had to navigate. The difficulty of understanding not everyone's going to be on the same page as you. The difficulty of trying to get along with others. It's just relatable and (slightly) bittersweet. But again, this is only the first volume which means it barely scratches the surface of it all.
