A perfectly fine way to spend an evening but the book, in its entirely, is utterly forgettable. There are some interesting storylines in there, but I literally just put the book down and Iā€™d have trouble explaining any of them. Or match the character names to their subplot. SO many characters. SO many rich white people. Meh.Ā

This one takes a bit of grace with reality and to get through it you really do need to suspend your disbelief but it was an interesting premise that just seems to fizzle our halfway through.Ā

Ned Groom is a millionaire that thrives off of hosting the worlds biggest stars at his resorts. Told from multiple perspectives the reader begins to unravel the tragedies that occurred during the weekend of Nedā€™s newest venture, island homeā€™s launch.Ā

This thriller has lots of characters and lots of twists, at times too many. I really enjoyed this one at first, it was fast paced with interesting characters, and a fun premise but halfway through the twists started getting gratuitous and the story just got dull. I didnā€™t really care for any of the characters by the end and everything took way too long to happen.Ā

I read a lot of thrillers and this wasnā€™t the worst one Iā€™ve read but it didnā€™t really do anything for me either to make it stand out.Ā

I love a good thriller and was excited when this start receiving a whole bunch of hype. It was a Reese's Book Club pick and I have really good luck with her choices, so I figured this would likely be good. Sadly, I was mistaken. This was like a lukewarm cup of tea. Not the worst thing, but not what you wanted and definitely not satisfying like a hot cup would be.Ā

The characters ranged from forgettable to downright annoying and/or obnoxious. The majority of the characters are wealthy, privileged famous people and the employees working at "The Club". I thought I would feel some sympathy for the workers dealing with these pretentious jerks...but nope. They were bland and forgettable.Ā

The plot...well...the concept is interesting enough, but not the most original. Everyone's on an island together. People start dying. There is financial ruin, blackmail, sibling rivalry and more! It seems like the recipe for an exciting read. Instead, it's lackluster, predictable, and at times all over the place.Ā

All in all, I wanted to enjoy this, but left it feeling meh.Ā

I feel like thrillers often miss the mark for me at the end of the novel, but this one ended on a satisfying note. It's not a perfect book; there are a few too many characters with a few too many unbelievable choices, and there are a few pacing issues. All that being said, the story is gripping, and the author reveals just enough of the characters' secrets at a time that I never wanted to stop the audiobook. I'm comfortable recommending this to anyone looking for a good mystery thriller!

A fast paced novel that follows celebrities doing bad things. I was enraptured by the atmospheric setting of Island Home, which transported me and now I feel a deepĀ  desire to go this fictional luxury resort. Unfortunately, I was not thrilled by the reveal and the last quarter of the book was a bit more of a slog, but overall I was so taken in by this book it overshadowed my ā€œmehā€ feelings toward the end. If youā€™re looking for your next vacation/summer thriller, pick this one up!
