I enjoyed this book and am going to read the second one. Nothing earth shattering but it was good.

Why did I wait so long to read this book!? It was right up my alley, the late 1800’s, witches, New York. I loved the bits of fantasy mixed with historical facts and appreciated the authors research on witchcraft. The writing was delightful and I really enjoyed the way the book was structured with journal entries and articles. I would definitely recommend and can’t wait to read more books by this author.

I loved this book. The pacing was even, there was a somewhat divers  collection of characters, and tension built appropriately. As someone who believes in the power of witches in present, past, and future, I really felt this book. The plague of Christianity, sexism, and ethnicentrism are as alive and well as they were a century ago unfortunately. I think the book did a good job fleshing out all characters, including the antagonists.

Way too long for the amount of story it contains. Full of random subplots that don't seem to go anywhere.
