A fun read-aloud that kids and adults can really get into and identify with.

This is another children's book that I use in group therapy. It's simple enough for 2 & 3 year olds to understand while being entertaining enough to keep the attention of 4 & 5 year olds. I've had great success in utilizing g this book to open up a space where we can talk about having good days vs bad days and what it means to "turn you day around." Kids enjoy it especially when I do a more dramatic reading of Crankenstein being, well, cranky! 5/5, want to buy myself a copy!

Books that take a difficult behavior then aggrandize and make it somehow workable....well....I enjoy finding the good ones. Illustrations are perfect. If you like this sort of thing consider taking a look at Spinky Sulks by William Steig.

This book is so cute, and many kids will identify with the everyday troubles that make Crankenstein appear. This would be fun for read alouds, if you are willing to really get into the story and bring out your best monster noises, and kids would love to join in with monster groans of their own!

I love this story because I raised a Crankenstein, have a Crankenstein for a nephew, and may also be a bit of a Crankenstein myself. Fun illustrations and engaging story for the little Crankenstein in your life. Hm, may make excellent Anti-Valentine's Day gift?

Cute story, I liked that there was a little bit of a twist to the story - I thought "Crankenstein" would be a character, but it was more to describe the young boy as he goes through his day and is clearly not a morning person, or someone who is having a good day! The best part of this book is the illustrations. Dan Santat is one of the most fun illustrators today, in my opinion. I also like the mutated unicorn-robot figurine at the end of the book!

A great, short read aloud. My K-2 students loved roaring like crankenstein along with the book.
