The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

Such a joyous read poking fun at humanity and philosophy and revelling in the fun of the present and taking things as they come. It's a science fiction book stuffed with wit whilst also creating a Whovian adventure though space powered by the improbability drive of a stolen ship which can go anywhere in the galaxy in an instant providing it knows just how improbable the circumstances are. Adams is up there with Hunter S. Thompson, Joseph Heller, Terry Pratchett and Kurt Vonnegut as one of the greatest satirical writers and along with Catch 22 (which I am currently reading) one of the most laugh-out-loud funny books one could read. I also now know where all my biros went.

My boyfriend would have killed me if I didn't like this book but guess what?! I'm alive! I rated this four but its probably more of a 3.5. Sci-fi just isn't my genre. It just sci-flies over my head most of the time. But this book was incredibly witty, and it made me Laugh out loud, which is very hard for a book to do!

No wonder this book is a Sci-fi classic! Both smart, witty, and such an easy read. I recommend this book to anyone is usually intimated by the genre.
