this was a fun little smutty read, but lacked the angst and emotional development i like to see between the two main characters. i wish maximo and juliet had formed more of a connection before they jumped into having a physical relationship. even once they did start having a physical relationship, the book lacked any real drive to push the plot forward. and for being a captive romance, this really wasn’t dark at all. nonetheless, the smut was decent and it was a quick read.

Listen, please don't ask me how many times I have read and re-read this book. You don't want to know. All you need to know is that this has inexplicably become my comfort read. I can't explain it. Nothing about the plot is cozy or comforting. But I have read this book no less than 3 times in less than a year. I love it so much. The plot is unhinged, but so am I.

I really loved this book. It was so well done, and the editing was applaudable (I always point this out b/c it’s painfully hard for some people to find editors).
The book starts off pretty heavy, but it’s fairly light and insta-love for basically the entirety of the book. There are TWO of my most favourite scenes: damsel in distress— hero to the rescue. The spice is delayed for the FMC to become a legal adult but it is absolutely there!
This book fits so many tropes, the characters are likeable, and I definitely recommend you read it!
