This book was very interesting. The book was more about her discovery of these books rather than the books themselves. I would have liked her to take herself out of it a bit and just talk about the books, and in that context, the history of how we treat humans after death and the class and racial systems in place that could have affected that, medical consent, etc.

Ugh I wanted to love this so much. Content is very interesting, but at times it feels like we don’t know where else the book could possibly go (just for it to go in circles).

Rosenbloom has a lighthearted voice that works excellently for dealing with such a dark subject. She presents everything in a way that's easy to understand, while also expressing a desire to remain accurate by occasionally clarifying things in the footnotes. The interpersonal tone of her writing helps anchor all the information, since we learn about how she reacted in real time, how people interact with her, and aspects of her personal life. At the same time, this doesn't hinder her communication of the science or history. It bolsters it.
