❝If you keep all your treasures in one purse, you only make it easier for those who would rob you.❞

This book wow. It was better than the first part for sure, it was all I hoped it would be and more. From the length, 624 pages (a good length), to the story! I loved it all. Especially the downfall of Joffery, I couldn’t stand his character, the way he treated Sansa was abhorrent, the way he treated his Uncle was shameful and even the way he treated his Grandfather. Cersei certainly had no control over him. We even learnt that Joffery’s cruelty started young, when he murdered a cat and opened her up to see her unborn kittens. Disgusting.

I also loved Daenerys’ chapters, while in previous books I wasn’t too attached to them and preferred the ones of say, Jon or Catelyn. I really couldn’t get enough of Daenerys. She’s truly started coming into her own as a woman and as a Queen. Conquering Meereen! What an achievement for someone so young. I felt heartily sorry for her when she found out about Jorah’s betrayal.

I found Sansa’s chapters to also be exciting, a lot better than previously. With her being taken away to the Eyrie, the interest peaked, especially with all the drama and her wedding to Tyrion back in Kings Landing. The poor girl, believing all her family to be dead, even her sister Arya. Who we know as the readers to be perfectly alive.

Overall, the tension, the drama, the wars, this book had it all and more. It was full of action, deaths and everything you could want from an author like George R.R. Martin.

I can honestly say that is the best book I have ever read. I don't even know where to begin, so much happened, I'm pretty sure I stopped breathing at one point!
Okay well for a start, George has written the most incredible, breath-taking, shocking book I've read in a long time. There's something about his writing that just grips me and I'm a huge fan of his work.
I loved the other books in 'a song of ice and fire' so far but 'a storm of swords: blood and gold' is by far my favourite. *spoiler* there were so many deaths which, although brought me to tears and heartbreak and even a little scream every now and then, I loved the intensity of the book, every other page I was on edge that someone was about to get a dagger through them! Some of my favourite characters suffered a horrible fate BUT it made reading it all the more fun and shocking.
*even more spoilers* And the ending!!! What was that??!? It put such a dramatic twist on things and when I finally thought I had things figured out in my head BAM George decides to make it even more thought provoking! I'm also a huge fan of the series and so I cannot wait to see how this is portrayed on screen. I recommend anyone who's not started reading the series to start right now because the books are truly incredible.

4th book I've read of the series, and I love it as much as ever. I love the way old parts of the story line are revisited and though you think they're all tied up and done with, there's always more to learn. Also (slight spoiler) I like how some supposedly dead characters appear again - it means that you really never know what's going to happen, 'cause even the most final-seeming events might not be the end.
