First of all, mermaids + lesbians is the best formula. Second, the main character is POC and the "monsters"/"demons"/things to be slayed/subdued/eradicated are not POC! Nice action, intriguing plot, and I'm excited to read the next installment!

This wasn't terrible, but it couldn't keep my attention. There was plenty of action, but there was also what felt like a judgemental attitude toward the teen girls. Everyone, except for our protagonist and her BFF, we snarky and shallow.
So this one lost me, which is sad because I love me some murderous, magical sea-creatures.

An interesting read, classic story of two lovers on either side of a war neither believe in
But they're both women and one's a mermaid
From slow descents into madness, betrayal, and murder, it's a great story focusing on the human inhabitants of an island waging war against the merpeople that threaten their food supplies, with little help from outside countries they are forced to send ships of men to sea in an attempt to wipe out the seabound population.
Desperation forces them to send a ship of women who would be immune to their allure in a last ditch hope to make a difference.
First in a series and very interested in reading the sequel

I received this ebook in exchange for an honest review
This is a story about how war can be fought by friendship. I really loved this story. It is beautifully written and quick paced. Never is their a dull moment and I read it in just one sitting.

This book blew me away. I couldn’t put it down, and it flew by so quickly. I’m far too invested and I am so ready for the sequel!

Ice Massacre was engaging and interesting from the very beginning. The characters had good depth and felt relatable. I didn't know what to expect from a book about mermaids, having never read one before. I thought it might be a little too wussy for me; but they were strong female characters and the whole plot was action-packed. Tiana Warner's first book was a good read, but she's gone above and beyond with her second novel.

I found this in my quest to read more books about mermaids during #MerMay and hoo boi, I could not put it down from start to end. Sapphic killer mermaids and warrior girls, what a combination.
