Beautifully written book about a tragedy that befalls a family after a prophecy by a mad man. This book carries you through the events as things unfold because of this prophecy. The authors style of writing is absolutely captivating. There’s also so much Nigerian history woven into this novel. As an Igbo woman I truly appreciated seeing the Igbo proverbs and language peppered through this novel. Some parts of it felt so familiar and the story hit very close to home. Beautifully written, highly reccomend it.

A very dark book.
I don’t know how I feel. I really just wanted it to end. It was exhausting the level of tragedy these children and this family went through. I’m just very shaken by this. It’s a lot.

But I will also say that it was good. Despite the trauma that was just utterly dizzying.

THIS BOOK!
You know a book is good when you can’t stop thinking about it when you aren’t reading it. This book was it for me.

I felt so much sadness for the family. Death after death, bad news after bad news. I had mixed emotions when Obeme and Ben were contemplating on how to kill Abulu. Cause on one hand, I can see their driving point, but on the other hand was it wasn’t the right thing to do. Still loved every part of it tho
