I ordered this book on a whim a few months ago and finally got around to reading it. Now I’m kicking myself for letting this sit on my shelf for so long. Needless to say, I loved this. Badass female protagonist. Norse gods. Gladiator fights. YES PLEASE.
I thought the artwork was absolutely GORGEOUS. It was so detailed and colorful, especially when it came to drawing the gods. I spent minutes soaking in each page and already want to go back just to look some more. It gave me Saga vibes, for sure.
I wanted so badly to give it a perfect rating, but there were some noticeable flaws. The beginning is slightly clunky before it arrives at the main conflict. The writing could also be cheesy at points. I attribute most of it to the fact that this is originally a Swedish publication that has been translated to English. It may leave some small things to be desired, but nonetheless it has pretty much become an instant favorite for me in the graphic novel arena.
If you have a pulse, check this out.
P.S. WTF are those last two pages and who decided to draw me in a bath with my cats???!!!

Helt magiskt bra.

Great first volume! Original characters and concepts are layered over familiar Norse Mythology in a way that works very well.
