okay so what shin did was pretty awful, it must be acknowledged. there are two fantastic scenes in this volume though -- when shin and maria have their first fight and when ayu and tomoyo visit maria in her apartment -- which were worth the price of admission on their own. i love the theme of communication in this series and how maria is consistently a catalyst for honest communication. you keept that up tomori and i will ride with you through whatever melodrama you want to put us through. 3 stars

And so the walls begin to crack. Awesome depth of character portrayed in this volume, too. I still can't believe Shin did what he did... so stupid.

It was great to see Maria come out if her shell in encouraging her classmates, and I'm so happy Shin finally decided to tell Maria the truth. The sections after her flashback were hard to read, because both Maria and Shin were so depressed and blaming themselves for the situation. Add to that the fact that Maria couldn't talk and explain herself to Shin, it's a miracle they were able to come together in the end. I'm glad Maria's other friends are there for her, too, and SO glad that Aya and Tomoyo went to her house and stopped her from hurting herself. With all she's been through in her childhood with her mom, and then with Anna, Maria really needs her friends around her to support her and reminder her that she's worth it, and deserves to be happy.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Shintaro. Yusuke seemed content to help Shin and Maria work it out and come together, but Shintaro seems intent on breaking them up.

I'm dropping this series before it gets annoying once more.
