I struggled to get into this book a bit, but then I'm not a huge fan of short story anthologies. I actually started this book, got about halfway and then put it down for months before finishing it. To be fair to the book, part of this frustration or lack of enjoyment comes from the fact that I initially misunderstood the reading order of these books having bought Blood of Elves about two years before buying the first two that are recommended to read first. So it didn't help the book that I went into it with the mindset that I just needed to finish it to get to read the next book. I enjoyed the last two stories the most out of this book. I think those two are where you see the most development and those two reveal a lot about Geralt's character. Overall, I would say it's a good read and a necessary one if you want to read the rest of the series, but definitely not my favorite book.
Moderate: Death, Violence, Blood, and Murder

Similar impressions as to The Last Wish: the medieval fantasyland hangs together as a whole, in terms of worldbuilding, and the adventures follow in a compelling pace with twists and quirks. But really did we have to have this level of misogyny? Even if it is a counterpoint to Geralt’s outlook? Hmm.
