I had previously read and enjoyed ‘Dig’ and ‘Everybody Sees the Ants’ by AS King, so I was excited to read a ‘feminist’ story from her.
The one feminist point I could get on board with here is how the objectification of women in society is harmful. Agreed.  But other than that I don’t see this as a ‘feminist’ book.
SpoilerGloria’s supposed best friend, Ellie, is clearly in a relationship with a guy who is treating her super poorly. But instead of being a good, supportive friend who says, “you deserve better” Gloria complains about she never really cared about Ellie and was only friends with her because of convenience..... 😐 On top of that, Gloria dislikes all the female characters and then meets a guy who she adores immediately after meeting him.... 😐😐

The writing was fine, the whole ‘history of the future’ aspect was heavy-handed IMO and really just came away wishing we’d seen a different side of Gloria. That being said, another portion of the book is Gloria coming to terms with her mother’s suicide and I did find those passages moving at times.
