a lot of the advice is impractical for people who either have children or who have homes which are too small to leave lots of open spaces. some good advice, but the vast majority was common sense.

I love this book, if only because its encouraged me to get rid of things I don't love or need. Totally great way to make small spaces inspire you. Some of the ideas are a little touchy-feely for my design sensibility, but all in all the steps included were practical and attainable. If you do read it and decide to undergo "The Cure", make sure you look for Cure groups to join on Flickr and Maxwell's home site: apartmenttherapy.com

Kind of "woo" at times with hints of New Age nonsense, but not overly so. Regardless, the book includes enough actual content to make it useful. The pacing is nice, and the author goes into just the right amount of depth to make his advice actually useful. I'm not sure how much of it I'll heed, but the information is presented in nice nuggets that make it easy to pick and choose what to implement.

This is a helpful book on getting your home up to where it is (a messy disaster if you're me) to where it could be and how that affects your life. Lots of tips and even the smallest ones are very nice. Easy read!

Ultimately a bit too bohemian-bourgeois for my tastes, this book nevertheless introduced me to a few helpful ways of thinking about how to organize our home. I didn't commit to either the One Room Cure or the Deep Treatment, so I can't speak to the effectiveness of Gilligham-Ryan's program, but I can see checking this book out again once we're settled in our new place to serve as a reference point.

A two-stream look at curing your home of its ailments, Apartment Therapy offered decent advice, but nothing groundbreaking. We all know the vitality of throwing away what we don't need, but ideas like the landing strip are clever and equally essential and yet sometimes overlooked. Whether you're fixing one room or your whole home, I don't think any harm is being done by consuming this quick read. I'd recommend it.

Great, informative and helpful for someone whom seems to be a warm person with many things and collections. May the purging and 8 step process begin. (Sans housewarming because COVID)
