The second book in this duo. This book picks up pretty much exactly where the first book left off. I really really feel like I shouldn't like Cole but he is that absolute red flag book boyfriend that you have to love because you're just naturally drawn to him. This book holds so much anticipation and excitement and hope for the main characters, both Cole and Mara.

The story takes you along as Cole and Mara's relationship grows and Cole starts to realize that he may actually have a soft spot for Mara. Mara continues to grow within herself with the help of Cole. She becomes more confident in her art, herself, and Cole. She continues to grieve the loss of her friend and she and Cole plan their revenge on Shaw.

The book has some really great redemption and revenge moments, and a fun little cameo from a certain police officer.

There are definitely some pretty spicy scenes and Cole and Mara just fire up the pages. I absolutely love the ending and I'm kind of sad to see this duo end. I would recommend both of these books.

The additional of songs to listen along to scenes is brilliant.

I loved the backstory of both characters and how they intertwined.
The most astonishing part for me is how Sophie describes emotions, feelings, sensations(touch, taste, etc.)
This less spicy than the first one.

This book was overwhelming for someone as sensible as me.
In a good way.
The plot is as expected (no surprise there) but I don’t think that was the real purpose of the end of the story.
It was an intense journey.

I liked this book more than the first one, however I still don’t think this duet is worth all the hype it gets. Like, sure, the mmc is extremely morally gray and quite literally kills someone for the fmc. But it still doesn’t hit like Haunting Adeline does. There’s some aspects that remind me of it, like Mara tuning into Cole’s “dark side”, but other than that there’s not much else. I do like their scenes, and seeing the relationship and character development from book one to book two was nice because it was very clear with the developments. Cole started feeling some stronger emotions towards Mara, whether that be because he had an obsession with her or because he genuinely felt that way with her we don’t know, but I still like how it was pretty clearly stated. Mara’s growth was VERY clear, as she was less timid and scared by things and started to take on the more morally gray concept as well.

Very enjoyable, almost seems like both books could’ve been one with each being a different part. Finished both in one sitting each
