I absolutely love Danielle Vega and this series. I believe I started reading it in middle school or high school, but I only read the first book. I recently reread the first one and bought all the rest to read them. They're just THAT good.

Echoing what other reviewers have said, these books are absolute page-turners and quick reads. I love horror; it's my favorite genre to read, and few authors do horror and gore quite like Danielle Vega, especially in the YA space. I may be biased in my review, but aren't we all?

I do like the exploration of the origin of Brooklyn as we meet her in the first book, I understand what other people have written that it was too similar in themes to the second book with the religious connections and plot points, but I'm nothing if not a sucker for portraying religion darkly and evilly. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes horror, gore, and the portrayal of women in religion.

Danielle Vega is an excellent writer, I find every time I read a book from this series I'm delighted with the twists in the plot. Her books are so captivating to the point where once you start reading one you can't stop until it's finished.
