I listened to this on audiobook with my husband - it’s playful, clever and ever twisting. Very fun listen for a comedic historic urban fantasy

It felt really dense and flowery. Couldn't keep my attention.

This book was a joy to read, lovely flowing colourful language, rich descriptions of a lush world filled with compelling characters. So many weird and original ideas, it really restored my faith in fantasy as a genre as I’ve read a lot of awful fantasy recently.

Is and War were a wonderful duo, I liked them immediately and their personalities felt fleshed out and real, so nice to read a fantasy book where the main characters aren’t teenagers!

I would only mark down as I feel like it tailed off a little in the end when all was revealed in a way that was a bit anticlimactic. But I think this was largely because it plans to be a series as there were a few open threads that were only teased at, so I’ll reserve full judgement until I’ve read on.

Will be reading everything I can get my hands on from this author.

What a fun book. An interesting mystery with a backdrop of magic and an extremely sweet, healthy partnership.

This was fun. Some parts dragged a bit, but I really loved the dynamic of the husband and wife team solving mysteries together. A Mary Poppins style carpet bag, a loving, supportive couple, and a mystery Sherlock would be tickled to solve. Will probably read the next I series when it comes out.
