Spectacular! I feel like I held my breath the whole time I was reading, unable to put it down or to stop thinking about these characters. It is truly one of the greatest books I've read in a long time.

This book is a tribute to the Parisenne's who refused to give up on their city during the occupation. I typically enjoy this sort of books but for some reason I just couldn't get into this book. Some of you though will love it. It is well written and I can't put my finger why I couldn't get into it but there is no one thing for me.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This review was originally posted on Wickedly Romance

I loved this book. I would give it 5 stars but it did take a little bit to understand the characters and settings at the beginning but once you get it you are hooked. One of the best ww2 books I’ve read.

I just really could not get into this book. I found it difficult to follow and the characters were too similar and they ran together.

I loved the leads in this story, but found the dates tedious; I would have preferred to have the story told in chronological order.

Beautiful story of 2 women, Lila and Sandrine, who fought behind the scenes in the Paris Resistance during WW2. Well written and difficult to put down, the book delves into the difficult choices the women made, how they fought for and hoped for the people they loved, and sacrificed with courage in the process.

The only reason I dropped my rating to 4 stars instead of 5 was because each chapter did a time jump which was a bit frustrating trying to keep track of. I get that it was to create intrigue but it was hard to remember where you were at half the time and just felt a bit like whiplash having to get your bearing from chapter to chapter.

This didn’t quite do it for me. Parts of the novel moved quickly and were enjoyable, others seemed to drag. I think I simply wanted more story, more plot. The book is very character based and given the intensity of the setting, I felt more story was needed. I found myself skimming paragraphs, hoping to move the story along.

I wanted to like this one but I struggled to finish it. Two main characters, two story lines, with too many time jumps was hard to keep follow. I get that one of the main characters is a dressmaker, but I felt like they think fashion was the only culture of Paris and it annoyed me. Paris is more than that.
