10/10. This was such a fun read. Seeing the detective stuff throughout and how it weaves into the tragedy of the story was both interesting and heartbreaking + seeing so much of the criminal family for the first time made me want to see a full Batman movie just fighting them (without the riddler and other main villains).

Loeb and Sale are the best team to ever do Batman and this story is the best Batman you'll ever find, if you ask my humble opinion. I'll even take it over The Dark Knight Returns because the art style is so much more enjoyable than Miller's (no offense). This story is epic and grimey and gritty, just like you want a Batman story to be. It's as good a serial killer story as you'll ever read and would make an incredible movie. Think Batman meets Seven and you've got the idea behind The Long Halloween. If you enjoy Batman at all, stop wasting time and grab this book immediately. You won't be able to put it down.

Fascinating...
If there is any comic that seems worth reading it is Batman. The color palette, the design everything seems so apt. Along with the engaging script the ling halloween was a worthy read

So good I read it in one sitting. At Barnes & Noble. Sorry, Jeph and Tim.

Following "Haunted Knight", this is a fully fleshed-out Batman story that revolves around a serial killer whose victims die on holidays. Harvey Dent plays a large role in the story in his quest as District Attorney to dissolve the hold of organized crime on Gotham City. Lots of "Godfather" nods and cameos by Batman villains. Twisty-turny. Good read.

This is one of the best Batman stories I've read. I love the Dark Knight movie trilogy, which is tied closely to this story and character development. It's a great read that stands on its own without having to have read anything else in the series.

This is a good introduction to Batman. It's also probably the best "Batman as a detective, not quite a superhero" graphic novel out there. The case is tight and keeps you guessing throughout, and it covers a lot of ground character-wise.
My biggest complaint is precisely the amount of ground covering in the book. In 13 issues, we are introduced to maybe eight(?) different villains, almost none of which are given enough room to breathe and develop. It's almost like a Gotham Safari. "If you look to your left, you'll see Poison Ivy...and she's gone. Hope you got a good picture."
Despite that, it's a classic story of a classic superhero that's well worth the read.
