This year I didn't get chocolate advent calendars for my kids I went with a book advent calendar and this book was the one for December 16th.

I just read this with my five year old son and two year old daughter.

This is a great silly rhyme book. My kids laughed a lot at it. My fiance was playing xbox with his friends and was repeating the story at the end.

All questions answered by my son (Nicholas).

Do you like this book?
Nicholas said "yes"

What do you think of the cover?
Nicholas said "Cool"

Do you want me to read it again?
Nicholas said "Yes"

I overheard a mother reading this book to their child at the library while I was happy shelving books and daydreaming about the future. Eventually I couldn't ignore the tagline of the book that gets repeated on every single page "and please will you turn off that TV.".
While still in a daydreaming state I wondered why there was nothing decent on TV these days and continued shelving.
As time went by I began to feel sorry for the child in the story that the mother kept complaining about. Why does he have so many chores to do? And if he's really being as stubborn as the book portrays then why is the mother not disciplining him?
I started to gain a keen interest in the story, waiting for the new complaint from his mother until I heard the line "I can't wait till school starts". Shocked, I thought back to YouTuber [a:Hannah Hart|7276000|Hannah Hart|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1393437272p2/7276000.jpg]'s line "I like it... I made it so I have to like it. Which, by the way, is how parents should feel." Surely if parents hate spending time with their kids they shouldn't have had any in the first place? That's just logic, man.
The fictional mother then tells the kid to "go bug your father". So I'm guessing the mother doesn't like her husband either.

Eventually, the mother gets so completely fed up with her undisciplined child she

... There's grounds for a Mother of the Year award right there. /sarcasm

So yes, this is a children's book. And yes, it's a silly little rhyme. And YES, I'm going overboard with all this analysing. But I'm standing my ground.

Here are a few illogical points to point out:
1. The family owns 3 TVs. The family has a TV problem
2. The kid has a TV in his room. Take it away!
3.
SpoilerThe mother loves her in-law so much she's going to burden her with her own offspring /sarcasm

4. The mom growls at the kid for watching TV on one page and he's not even!
5. Has the dad given up on parenting his child from the beginning?

Moral of the story: Don't have kids. Or, if you do, choose to love them. Just sayin'
