Kang writes characters so beautifully. Her murderer reveal had me shocked, not because it was implausible, but because it was so logical that I can’t believe that I didn’t see it! Her scientific  and historical knowledge is evident in her writing. All of it is so very real while bordering almost on magical, which is the very nature of science!

I loved everything about this book! The strong female lead, history,  struggle with addiction, fight for women’s rights in society, the vampire lore, and the character’s attempt to solve the mystery of her sisters death made for an interesting story. Definitely recommend this one.

This was surprisingly good. Kept me at the edge of my seat. I had suspicions about the culprit, and I liked how I was wrong but still close. At least the one person I trusted turned out to be good 😊

It's a fun book and a fairly quick read. I would classify it as a historical mystery with a good dose of wholesome romance. Though it deals with heavier themes (drug abuse, murder, SA), the naive and curious perspective of the protagonist gives the book more of a lighthearted, and at times a YA feel. A great vacation book.
