DNF at 25%. It pains me to DNF a book so I very rarely do, opting instead to skim & push through..but reading this book was even more painful than a DNF. The authors self promo reels were not actually reflective of the book, so I started the book with certain expectations - expectations I could have overlooked if the writing had been better & the characters more likable.

Considering I ate this up in 2 days I definitely enjoyed it. The book really does get you hooked from the beginning and its a fun ride along the way. The banter is great and I love the magic and friendships in the story building. Even the world building is detailed but not overdone. Laya is a good heroine, even though she's stubborn and gets in her own way,but I like that she improves and makes her own decision instead of lies and what others have told her. Somewhat predictable but still a fun adventure and instantly ready to jump into the next one.

I almost didn’t read this simply because when I think of elves I think of Santa or Keebler cookie elves

I found myself in a reading slump and started and stopped and started and stopped multiple books without one holding my attention. I had heard about Bow Before the Elf Queen by J.M. Kearl and saw it was on Kindle unlimited, so I downloaded it hoping it would pick me out of the slump.

BOY did it, I am anxiously waiting the next book Long Live the Elf Queen. The ending of Bow Before the Elf Queen was such a plot twist! I usually see these things coming...
