When I saw the book was only 183 pages, I didn't expect much. But wow, was I mistaken! I started reading without knowing anything about it. At first, all the words and names made it hard for me to get into. But as I kept going, I got hooked and ended up enjoying it a lot.
What I liked most was how different it was from other fantasy stories I've read. There were no typical battles between good and bad, no wars, and no usual characters. That made it feel like a breath of fresh air. Plus, I appreciated that there wasn't some random love story thrown in. It was all about Gred and his journey.
This quote made me contemplate and I found it very beautiful. "Knowing his whole true self, cannot be sued or possessed by any power other than himself, and whose life therefore is lived for life's sake and never in the service of ruin, or pain, or hatred, or the dark."

Entonces era mi primer Le Guin y no me gustó nada.

such a heartwarming reading. i loved ged. the world building was very chill and endearing and it was such a cute story to go through, compared to other high fantasy books that offer more action. it was nice for a change for sure, and i'll surely continue it.

I love fantasy but unfortunately this wasn't for me. I felt that the narrative was too dry and boring and there were a lot of statements that weren't exactly descriptive, which was a shame considering it's a fantasy novel. I felt let down by the lack of world building. All in all, I wasn't captivated. I disassociated almost every time I opened the book to read. I'm not sure if I want to continue reading Le Guin after this.

Enjoyed rereading this brought me back to seventh grade. I remember the whole concept of the shadow and it’s something that has always stayed with me.

Now that I’m older I think some parts are over explained and others aren’t setup. For example what is Ged going to do after wizard school. It’s never talked about or hinted and the choice is random and unimportant seemingly in the overall narrative.
