“The Dalloway witches had carved out my heart and consumed it for heat. I had nothing left to give.”

Sapphic dark academia? Say less.

This book grabbed my tight and pulled me into a world of dusty old books and tarot cards immediately. Morally grey characters combined with an unreliable narrator really made the book thrilling.

Some have commented on inaccurate representation of mental illness, specially hospitalization, in this book. I, however, found it to be really well done and well researched. It’s important to note that mental health and hospitals are a different experience for everyone.

There are lots of content warnings in this book that I wish I knew before I read it, please look them up first.

Overall this book made me want to buy a jacket with elbow patches and learn to read tarot cards with a group of girls in a haunted old house, but I’ll avoid the murder part.

**thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the ARC**

the plot was awesome, the characters less-so. the atmosphere was great, the character relationships less-so. but overall, a good book that could’ve been better.

I almost DNF'ed this book. I put it down once because it was slow and I wasn't enjoying the brutality. BUT I am so glad I finished. Look, this book is gorey and focuses on serious mental health and how it betrays your mind. Which makes sense seeing as the author has a PhD in Psychology.

Things don't really start piecing together until about 80% through so be patient. This book will have you second guessing yourself, then going back to your first conclusion, then think "naaah it's too easy".  Ultimate gaslighting from the author, haha.

So good. Dark academia vibes and not for the faint of heart.

Felicity has come back to Dalloway school after grieving the loss of her girlfriend, upon coming back she meets Ellis a talented writer who's obsessed with finding an ending to her book. Follow this crazy, unhinged book with characters losing their mind. Caution: You will lose yours too.
