I would have given this 5 stars except I felt like it ended rather abruptly. Other than that, the writing is lovely and the illustrations are beautiful.

The artist used rich colors to share this part of Frida's life. It was a time when she was finding her own artistic voice. I loved the illustrations. The book is not a complete biography, but is more the story of an important time in Frida's life.

This story is focused on Frida's time in San Francisco. This was at the beginning of her career. She was mostly ignored in the city and she didn't like that. Eventually, she let her colors fly. From this little story, it seems she solidified her style while in the city. It's where it really took shape.

I don't know that she ever stopped missing Mexico while she was here. It doesn't seem to be her city. It was too gray and cold for her.

The artwork was lovely. I thought the story was good. The story is about a focused time of her life.

a few key scenes in the lives of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, but fictionalized. Beautifully illustrated in a style similar to theirs.

Frida Kahlo is one of my favorite artists, but I didn't know she had lived in San Francisco after marrying Diego Rivera. This is a lovely book about Frida becoming a painter and embracing her unique POV.

While the illustrations were okay, it's factually inaccurate and doesn't capture Frida. I'm sad that this exists.
