Now I hate to say it, but I was disappointed by this book, I'd heard so many good things and was so excited to pick it up, however I found that it took me a long time to read this book, not because it was too long or whatever but because the beginning just seemed to drag and I couldn't bring myself to keep picking it up. It was pretty predictable and all of the characters just really bugged me in one way or another. I didn't hate this book but I definitely wouldn't read it again.

I invited her in was not for me. You all might enjoy it more, but there are graphic sex scenes between a 40-something and a 17-year-old boy. Even worse, the woman is the estranged former best friend of the boy's mother. The gross-out factor of that basically killed the book at that point for me. I'd definitely say the twists aren't really too unexpected, but the writing was decent. If the subject matter had been different I might have really enjoyed it.

Another book for 2019 which was fast paced and the sort of two friends who meet up years after they were best friends at university. Revenge, lust, jealously and love all feature. Gripping

What I Did Like:
-Setting the mood. This book does a good job of setting the mood you should be feeling with the language. There are moments you feel comfy, like you’re sitting at home with a cup of tea in front of a fireplace. Then there are moments where you feel like your chair is only on two legs and you are about to tip. The language sets the mood exactly right for the story and that is impressive.
-I like characters who are morally gray. I like when characters make wrong choices and it sets off a chain reaction of things that are not at all what they intended. It’s realistic because none of us are perfect.
-Distinct voices. This one is multi POV and I did feel like I was reading different voices with each one. I didn’t have much trouble telling them all apart and even the ones who only had one or two chapters felt different when they popped in.

Who Should Read This One:
-If you like contemporary stories but you want to try a mystery/thriller that isn’t too gorey or gross, you might like this one. It isn’t murder and blood, no one is in emminent danger, but it can still get your heart pumping. We’ll call it psychological thriller lite.

My Rating: 3 Stars
