I liked the set-up and the multiplicity of voices. I liked the tension of not quite knowing if Origami Yoda is the real thing, or just something Dwight makes up. Very funny too. Good stuff.

Tom Angleberger gets 6th graders' voices just right. Doodles and crumpled-looking notebook pages add to the fun. Fans of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series will eat this up.

“Cowritten” by a group of middle school boys as case notes for a mysterious event. When Dwight creates his own Yoda Origami pattern, his friends assume it will lead to more teasing and bullying. Surprisingly Yoda gives advice to classmates and improves Dwight’s social standing. The question is, Does Yoda have true power or is just the mutterings of an unpopular boy?
Minor: Bullying

Dwight is the smelly, not-so-bright kid in his sixth-grade class. But his Origami Yoda finger puppet is full of great advice and predictions, and his classmates start to wonder if it's possible for clueless Dwight to be the source of such wisdom. Maybe Origami Yoda really is connected to The Force! But Tommy has to be sure because the stakes are high: he's about to take Origami Yoda's advice about a girl. He compiles the evidence here in "The Strange Case of Origami Yoda" so you can decide for yourself.
This book is totally random, clever, and cute--all things that I LOVE in books. The characters remind me of myself and my friends when we were in sixth grade. Fun, fun, fun!

Listened to this audiobook on May 4th ... May the Fourth Be With You. I had a hardcopy I put into the little library. I remember having this series 10+ years ago, and #3 got into folding origami critters. Fond memories of that. I felt like I had read this, but it wasn't in my GoodReads history. At least not on this account. I have a separate "kids" account (BlackhamBoys) to track what they were reading, or what I read to them. I had read it, listened to it, before (in 2011).
Quick listen - just over two hours. Available in AudiblePlus and at the library. There are some illustrations, but I'd still recommend it as an audiobook. Cute, with different voices for the various characters, each telling their experiences with Origami Yoda.
1st person. Past tense. Very easy, conversational tone ... different voice feel from the characters (even without the different voices in the narration. Various fonts and presentations to make them all separate). It IS very young. The kids are in middle school ... but they like girls (do boys like girls that young?)

4* rating based on what I think the target audience would give it. It's one I would, and did, recommend to my boys.

Fabulous book! I listened to this on CD and the reading was wonderful. I found myself laughing out loud throughout. Looking forward to reading/listening to the rest of the series!
