This was my second holiday read for december 2021!
It was an easy and quick read. Also you can easily read this in the fall since the story doesn’t take place at Christmas. The plot reveals itself almost right away and doesn’t drag the message out. It was a very sweet friends-to-lovers romance and the tension between Cami and Noah was exciting to read. It did annoy me how dense she was when everyone could see his motives but I’ll forgive her considering her past experience.

Cami’s character was not a favourite of mine. She was rather annoying at times. Her development was good at least but the Sparkly and Snarkly conversations were not fun to read. It was also very repetetive. I felt like I read the same conversation five times.

But Noah’s character made up for it. I had to see his character get what he wanted because he honestly deserved it and more! He was such a great friend, even when he hadn’t been treated like one.

Overall a sweet and easy read, but doesn’t have to be read in the holidays really.

So many laughs and tears for tender moments

Loved the writing. The book was funny and witty, but realistic. The reader takes the journey with Cami as she discovers who she really is and chooses for herself instead of letting her past and her fears of the future control her. And Noah is the most patient, kind and sweet friend who has always loved her. Read it this holiday! You're sure to laugh out loud at least once.

for me

This book was sooo good. Now usually I don’t like books where the girl is basically dumb. Like clearly Noah was talking about her and she was dumb and didn’t see it. But this book actually didn’t bother me. I lowkey just found it hilarious and it made me love noah. It was just so beautiful. I wasn’t the biggest fan of her inner voices. Like having the two voices was kind of werid and confusing but I think that was the point. So I didn’t like that part of writing style but whatever. This book truly is a five for me because of the character development. Cam really grew and changed throughout the book so everything else kind of doesn’t matter. I’m in love with Noah. He is so cute and all of the things he did for her. The way he talked about her, to her and she didn’t know was hilarious and so cute. They are the cutest couple. I would recommend this book. I could also see maybe reading this again during the holidays. Beautiful book with the perfect amount of holiday feel. 5/5

it took me a little while to get into the book, I really didn't care for the all the internal diagloge with her "alter ego", but otherwise, it was okay. I don't feel the need to really read more about the characters, so I'll leave this as a one-off.

I read about half this book and then scanned the rest. I just couldn’t do it. I’m a little disappointed because I’ve read one other book by Jennifer Peel and loved it (my not so wicked stepbrother). Literally everything annoyed me. I hated how she argued with herself in her head, Ms. Sparkly being one of the people she was arguing with. It literally drove me crazy. I get why she did that - to show us how Cami was finding her old self again, but I feel like it was the same argument and discussion every chapter. So much could have been cut out. Also it’s crazy to me that Cami was SO oblivious and didn’t realize Noah liked her when he literally told her so many times, I mean it’s in the very first chapter! Also the ex files posts at the beginning of every chapter were not funny to me at all. Cami was just SO bitter, and I understand why, but it’s been three years, and the bitterness was just still so strong which I guess I’ve never divorced so I can’t say anything but still. It reminds me of girls I know who post about their divorce all the time, even years later.

Also, this does not contribute to the two star rating, but I thought it was humorous how they go to a dessert place called The Chocolate that was converted from an old house. Because there’s literally a dessert place in Orem/Utah called The Chocolate that used to be a house. And I know the author frequents that area haha.

Spoilers:

I felt like the pregnancy plot like was not needed. It felt weird to me.
