I'd been wanting to read this for a while as it's a different take on the thrillers that I normally read.
Unfortunately I felt very underwhelmed as The Queen didn't actively take part in solving the mystery, she just sent other people to do it.
I also found this book to be politically heavy and I often found my interest straying, I did finish it but I did find it a struggle.
However I did like Prince Philip as he provided a light hearted tone that broke up the seriousness nicely.

What a lovely cosy mystery story this was. A murder takes place in Windsor Castle on a dine and sleep night. The Queen takes action to solve it.

I enjoyed this easy read. It was good to have the Queen as a sleuth and see a different side to her. I like how she took to Rozie and put her trust in her to help her.

The Windsor Knot sounded like it was going to be my new favourite book. It combined mystery and thriller with the British Monarchy. Those two together? Perfection for me! Unfortunately, this book just didn't work for me at all. I struggled through it and nearly DNF-ed it.

The writing style didn't work well with me, although the premise is amazing. S.J. Bennett is a great writer, but I just didn't connect with the tone and writing. The book did make me smile throughout, but I had hoped the Queen would be a little more... out of character - she would participate a lot in the mystery and sound like a wild 80/90 year old solving mysteries. It unfortunately was more on point with what I would perceive would be her actual behaviour - prime, proper, providing insights, and just being there.

Still a marvelous story that I'm sure many others would love, but it didn't work for me.

One out of five stars.
