Cute and charming but aimless and meandering

I’m all for the trend of historical people solving a murder. Georgia O’Keefe, Emily Dickinson and The Queen of England! I l enjoyed that this incorporated so much current events in the plot. And I really loved the Queen’s partner in crime was a kick ass former officer in the Royal Horse Artillery. Rozie Oshodi is a great fictional character.

It is a clever concept. It also contains some political bias, language and sexual content. I wanted to give it 5 stars, but couldn't because these things interfere with my appreciation of the story.

It wasn't bad, it just wasn't for me. There was such a worship of the Queen and royalties, it was too much.

Her Majesty is planning her 90th birthday celebration when a dead guest is found in one of the bedrooms at Windsor castle. Although the case is at first misfiled as a suicide, it quickly turns into a murder investigation. The Queen thinks she can leave it to the professionals, but soon decides it would be best if she takes matters into her own Royal hands. With the assitance of her new Private Secretary Rozie, the Queen proves why she's Britain's best sleuth.
I'm not British, but this depiction of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth is quite similar to the one I've built in my own mind from several shows and documentals I've seen throughout the years. It was entertaining to read about a Royal sleuth, and I'm eager to read more of her adventures.
