I love Thich Nhat Hanh! That said, I liked the first part of this book better than the second half. I have read quite a bit of TNH's stuff, and I think he has a lot of better options for books. Despite it not being his best work, I still got some wisdom and reminders from this. TNH always slows me down and helps me breathe, think, and love with more clarity.

I have a feeling Thích Nhất Hạnh would be incredibly disappointed in me for listening to the audiobook while grocery shopping (with lots of unplanned impulse purchases), but it is supposed to be a book on meditation for busy people. I originally read "Peace is Every Step" five years ago. The ideas and practices within fit well with my worldview and lifestyle at the time, and I found walking meditations and gathas to be excellent for reducing anxiety and whatnot. Mindfulness like that described in Thích Nhất Hạnh's books got me through a horrible fire that destroyed everything we owned in 2019. Between the actual dumpster fire the world has been since 2020 and throwing two kids into the mix, I've definitely strayed from the path a bit. I read this book as a reminder to get back to it. Parts of it felt a little silly or even naive after everything, but I remember how lovely it is to have that mindset.

This is a book to be studied, not just to be read.
