A harrowing series of stories about Germans who killed themselves on the eve of Germany’s defeat in World War II.

An examination of what happens when your world is completely shattered. Of the horrors of war. Of what happens when people realize they were in the perpetrators of incredible violence. Of the brutal realities the world so often contains.

This book provided a very different perspective of Germany after WWII. I think it's really important to read to understand how German's experienced the end of the war and how they were able to compartmentalize their actions and experiences and diminish their horrific actions.
