I loves watching him develop more confidence in himself. I think other review really didn't see that she also built her own confidence. She had to learn how to not let her family feel like a burden. Cute storyline with lots of spicy twists that actually develop some of the plot.

Almost DNF.

The idea was ecxellent, the execution... catastrophic.

No lessons for Elsie on how to be a dom, just reading through a website...
Bran's safeword wasn't even established until the second session if I remembered correctly... I'm trying *really* hard to forget trust me.

Miscommunication and drama galore.

The only props I can give is for Bran's character development.

Effie felt too artificial for a four years old, and trust the good old american healthcare system on a misdiagnosis for Elaine... So she could be saved just like ✨that✨!

Sammy is the only sane one...
But I have to agree... Mally is on the mental level of a four years old...

All-in-all, this book has contained maybe 3 or 4 chapters femdom content... out of 40 chapters, and a bonus epilouge... that's maybe even less than 10%. I would hardly call it a femdom romance.
I could barely stomach the sappiness at the end especially during spicy scenes.

One more thing... I really couldn't get this out of my head... The colour the author tried to reach for so hard at the beginning... "wine coloured" or "merlot-coloured" is called burgundy...

You're welcome.

This one was super intriguing, brought all the spice while also making my heart throb a bit.

Hear me out I loved Bran. His back story and everything he know deals with because of his eye just melted me. He is kind, caring, and sweet with a little bit of a rough side when needed. Then we have Elsie. She is under a lot of stress with her mom, daughter, and just trying to balance it all as a single parent.

These two just connect with one another on a different level, and boy is it fan yourself hot. Like please we love a woman who isn't afraid to take control, and be comfortable in herself.

Next cue me crying when Bran meets Elsie's daughter for the first time. It was SO SO CUTE. Like please just stomp on my heart because I'm a goner.

That epilogue. UGH I JUST LOVE HAPPY ENDINGS SO MUCH

This was actually so good, but so cringe at the same time so I have to reduce the rating. The female main character just said some phrases that seemed so odd and it took me out of the story big time. But I did love the way these two overcame their insecurities together. They both felt like very real people but their getting together felt very fast. I did appreciate that the story expanded on their time together after they decided to be together and we saw a little bit of how they navigating blending their families together. Also these are my two favorite switches. Their sex was hot and we waited until 70% for actual intercourse. I loved that.

A masterclass in how 'better BDSM writing than average' does not equal a good book.

DNF at 58%
A slightly better portrayal of BDSM than usual (chastity play, outfits, consent, dom is shown actually enjoying domination from their perspective without being portrayed as some kind of psycho, or worse, a hollow fantasy dispenser). Heck, we even get some actual connection to BDSM as a subculture, even if the FMC is a complete newbie with a mostly vanilla mindset! Finally, none of that 'natural dom' nonsense I've seen being peddled everywhere! Unfortunately, everything else about it is painfully boring, and I hate having to say that.

The most interesting tension I experienced in literally over half of this book was regarding whether Elsie's mother, who has dementia, and the four year old daughter she's meant to be caring for, are going to be okay after any given scene. Everything else about the romance was tepid and safe, from the 'ah, he's a client, I can't fall for a client' to their mutual territoriality over being exclusive to each other (which is assumed rather than negotiated. I weep.) Bran's angst about losing his eye literally years ago, I just didn't care for the stakes. There's no actual worry on either of their parts about being, say, discovered (and Bran is a local business owner, so being outed as a submissive might seriously affect him).

Bran himself is the same ripped, tall, tattooed broody man with a penis the size of a coke can who populates what feels like half of all romance books at this point. Are they... are they all the same guy? O.o Anyway, this time he's wearing an eyepatch and is a sub. His interests are lifting so that he can be ripped, and having a dog so that Elsie's daughter will eventually have a pet to play with. Bran's friends are vaguely annoying for how much time is spent on them horsing around, but Bran himself would be painfully dull by himself, so I see why they're there. Pity they're pigs for their day jobs.

Overall, just too many romance novel tropes and not enough actual BDSM stuff, like negotiation and aftercare. Zero aftercare, in fact.

Also, if you're reading this and are the type who wouldn't date someone if they had an eyepatch, jesus, get help.
